William H. Hurst House

more info

William H. Hurst House

The William H. Hurst House was constructed in 1912 as a private home for William Hurst, president of the New York Stock Telegraph Company, his wife Minnie, and their ten children. Later repurposed as a convent and subsequently the Gerard School of the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary, the building has stood abandoned and neglected since the 1970s. We are excited to be working closely with building ownership to restore the structure to its educational use. The project will entail a complete overhaul to the interior and exterior, retaining the character of the historic structure while replacing decades of decay with a state-of-the-art Pre-K and Kindergarten facility for the surrounding Inwood neighborhood.
