School in the Square (S2) draws its name from the concept of the public square - a place where students, families, and educators gather to learn from, support, and celebrate one another. Founded in 2016, S2 offer Spanish-English Dual Language programs at two different locations in upper Manhattan: School in the Square Middle School and Dos Amigos Elementary School. Their new 400 student High School is currently under construction in a new building nearby, situated between the vibrant Inwood neighborhood and Fort Tryon Park. The 58,000 SF school will provide 16 modern classrooms and feature large, light filled assembly, recreation, and research spaces. In keeping with the school's founding tenet of making space for shared discourse, large informal "squares" have been designed throughout the school to provide places of informal gather and collaborative work, bringing learning out of the classrooms and into the shared spaces of the larger school community.
