This project entailed the design of a secure archive for the storage and display of a large, private Asian and Inuit art collection. Intended to function as a private research room and exhibition staging area, the diverse pieces of the collection are housed in vertical Montel ModulArt racks and custom, bleached sycamore flat files and shelving. A custom-built MWE Edelstahlmanufaktur stainless steel ladder glides the length of the room to provide access to upper storage, while the vertical sliding display racks are grouped along the opposite wall within a lightweight polycarbonate enclosure. Outside of the secure vault, the unit is also provided with a small kitchenette, full bath, and study for the client.
