PellOverton is an award-winning architecture practice based in New York and directed by partners Ben Pell, AIA and Tate Overton, AIA. Since 2003, we have provided innovative design and project planning services for a wide range of clients, including educational, nonprofit, commercial, and residential projects, in the form of new construction, interiors, and adaptive reuse alike.

While our work spans multiple scales and project types, at the center of our design approach is an appreciation for understanding the individual culture of our clients. To that end, we believe in both the value and enrichment that good design brings to every project, and our practice is committed to exploring solutions which are both creative and sustainable. Our role is to provide vision, clarity, and leadership to the project team, advocating for our clients as we guide each project from concept to completion.

Ben Pell, AIA is a Registered Architect in New York, and received his Master of Architecture degree from UCLA and his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Syracuse University. Over the past twenty years, Ben’s professional experience in New York and Boston has included both large and small practices, working as Project Architect on a diverse range of public and private buildings and urban plans. Ben has also taught on the design faculty of the Syracuse University School of Architecture and the Pratt Institute, and he has been a regular member of the Yale School of Architecture faculty since 2005. Ben’s writing on architecture has also been featured in various publications, and he is the author of “The Articulate Surface: Ornament and Technology in Contemporary Architecture” (Birkhauser, 2010).

Tate Overton, AIA is a Registered Architect in New York, and received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Kentucky. Tate has practiced in the New York architectural community for more than fifteen years, completing award-winning projects ranging from distinctive large scale mixed-use, commercial, educational, and master-planning projects to high-end residential renovations and custom sustainable houses. Additionally, Tate has extensive experience in residential and commercial construction management and turn-key design-build delivery, and has provided construction consulting services in Connecticut and the New York metro area.
